SHELTER ...a note from JT (Jordan)

With the wind-down of Shelter's website (forecasted for december 2011), I felt it worthwhile to put together a fund raising plan to help a cause I believe in and have been personally affected by.  If you would like to donate to my ride, please click on the banner below!

I want to thank you! I will send you a gift for your donation of $50 or more!

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital is a cycling journey through Quebec's countryside that I'm embarking on to fight cancer.  It will be a challenge in many ways.  With your generosity, a real impact will be made!

As this is my first fund-raising ride, I'm currently in training & I hope you will contribute to this history-making event with a donation.  Funds raised in The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, & compassionate care at the Jewish General Hospital.  The ride takes place July 9th & 10th, 2011, & I have been motivated by so many people into action for this worthy cause.  Read about some of the people who have been inspirational and my motivation for this journey at the bottom of this page!

I have purposefully placed this special donations page on the band's website.  I want to personally thank those who donate to my ride.  If your interesed, in donating please click on the donate link below.

Thank you in advance for your help.  As often as possible, I will try to update you regarding my fund-raising (& training), & please pass on the word so we can join efforts in eradicating cancer in our lifetime.

As a closing note, I'd like to mention a few people who have been an incredible inspiration to me in many different ways, along life's long and winding road...

Jordan W. Batten: my dad, a man of great faith and my life's 'superhero' when if came to perseverance

Mr. Thomas Dobbie: My high school technical Drafting  teacher, who could see through my side-tracked mind, knowing I could achieve great things, and always pushed for more from me.

Bruxy Cavey: A minister in Oakville, Ontario who always gave me the inspiration to question, challenge, and to give of myself with an open, honest and caring heart.

Dennis Cameron: Guitarist from angelica, Michael Sweet Band, and Cynical Limits.  We ripped though some serious recording sessions together quite a few years back, & he demanded my best in those sessions, everything I could be as a vocalist, and more so as a person.

Jordan Stone: Probably the biggest Shelter fan there ever was.   his mail was so positive, it oozed of optimism, & drove us to be everything we could for faithful fans.  Now, he runs competitively as I understand, & still impresses me every time he posts his progress, a real champion even before he ‘breaks the tape’.

Judi Batten: My wife, everything to me, my best friend, my mentor, my life’s love inspiration.  She knows me, my strengths & weaknesses, always brings me to feel that I can be more, endlessly she stands beside me as I go, no matter the path.  ...love you...
